Scott has a bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Economics from Franklin & Marshall College. He has his law degree from USC Gould School of Law. He has been trying cases to juries since 1987. He began his career at a prominent defense firm, where he spent two decades in constant litigation—taking depositions, handling arbitrations, and trying cases virtually every week for twenty years. He was one of only a handful of attorneys entrusted by the firm's institutional clients to try the highest-exposure cases. In 2007, he left that firm to co-found Voss, Silverman & Braybrooke LLP with his longtime friend and law school classmate, David Voss, and Rachel Silverman.
That same year, Scott transitioned to representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters—a move that reshaped his practice and reinforced his commitment to advocating on behalf of individual clients rather than corporations.
